Mark Saturday, June 5th 2010 on your calendar for the 9th Annual Run for Rights. Whether you choose to walk, run, cycle or rollerblade, this event is a great way to get some exercise or warm up for the Manitoba marathon in support of social justice and human rights.
This year’s route map has changed – please see the route tab for updated information!
To take part in the Run for Rights, you may collect pledges for — or make a donation to — one of the participating organziations (see list below). You may also do the same for the Run for Rights as a group, in which case funds are used to support all participating organizations. Everyone is welcome, and there is no minimum donation or pledge required to participate!
Please download your pledge form or donation form (below) and use it for your registration. All pledges will be collected the day of the race. Registration takes place Saturday June 5th from 8:30 to 9:00 AM at Kildonan Park, and the run starts at 9:30 AM. Please bring your registration form, your pledge money or donation, and a water bottle (water refills will be provided along the route). The Run for Rights is a “Fun Run” – participants will be responsible for recording their own times.
For more information on getting involved, call Laura at (204) 223-8415 or email run4rights@gmail.com

Run for Rights is a coalition of diverse organizations working together to organize this event. Each organization is fully independent in undertaking their human rights and social justice work. The strategies and policy positions adopted by participating organizations are not necessarily shared by other coalition members.
If you’re unable to take part in the event, but want to get involved, become a race-day volunteer! We are looking for route marshals to help us cheer the runners on and direct runners along the route. For more information, call Laura at (204) 223-8415 or email run4rights@gmail.com.
You can choose to complete a 5 km or 10 km route. The scenic route stretches along Scotia Street from Kildonan Park to St. John’s Park in Winnipeg.
On the day of the run, we encourage you to walk, ride your bike, or bus it to Kildonan Park for registration. If you are driving, please try to car pool with friends who are also in the run. Parking can be found on the streets south of Kildonan Park, and in the public parking lot beside the Pavilion inside the park (the Rainbow Stage parking lot will not be available for parking). If you are going to park in the Pavilion lot, please make sure you get there well before 9 AM, as there is a children’s bike race on the main park road the same morning as Run for Rights, and cars moving about will be unsafe!
